History in Every Brick

David Springer, the son of a United Empire loyalist who fled to Canada after the American Revolution, built this home for his family in 1835.

An activist in his community, Springer was a Justice of the Peace for 35 years and one of the founders of the Halton Agricultural Society.

William Lyon Mackenzie is said to have hidden out here while fleeing Toronto for Queenston during the Upper Canada Rebellion of 1837.

Today, the Old Springer House still stands, offering breathtaking banquet facilities with a flare of old world charm.
